On January 30, 2015, Indian Ex-Defence Service Employees Chamber of Commerce and Industries (IESECCI) felicitated the families of seven brave-hearts of India, who lost their lives for the country, in the award ceremony of Shaheed-e-Hind Award 2014. Family members of Pilot Commander Suresh Kumar Maurya, PSI Suhas Palekar, Police Constable Dnyaneshwar Shep, Fying officer Tanajai Paigude, Major Yashen Acharya, Lieutenant Nawang Kapadia and PSI Shashank Malkapure had assembled at Rangsharda Natya Mandir, Bandra (W) for the felicitation.
In the event, Padmshree Dr Sharad Kale; Sanjeev Dayal (Director General of Police); Sadanand Date (Joint Commissioner of Police – Crime); and KL Prasad (Commissioner of Police – Navi Mumbai) were present to felicitate the family members of the seven martyrs for their unshakable courage, devotion and love to their country.
Spouse of martyr Late Police Constable Dnyaneshwar Shep, Vaishali Shep said “I am extremely proud of my husband and how he has inspired my son. At the same time, I want to remind the government about the numerous brave-hearts who have laid down their lives for the sake of the country. Their families are still languishing in poverty, due to lack of financial aid,”. Late Police Constable Dnyaneshwar Shep lost his life while fighting with Maoists in Gadchiroli on April 6, 2009. His 11-year-old Kshitij Shep , offered a tribute to his father through an essay, explaining his dream to follow his father’s footsteps and serve the country.
